I've been to lots of games in the past where there has been a hold-up due to bad weather. I've even seen the referee blowing his whistle because of missiles being thrown onto the park. It's quite common to hear of games being delayed because of a bad injury to one of the players. Sometimes it's even an injury to the referee or his assistants that halt proceedings. Probably everyone who follows junior football will at one time or another even seen a stray dog holding up play. It's always funny to see a group of grown men being outfoxed (if that's the right word) by a dumb animal as they try and fail miserably to coax the playful mutt of the park. However, I bet that no amount of dogs or any other animal for that matter will have got as many laughs as the 76 year old lady who interrupted the first league game of the 07-08 season at Meadow Park. It was a day of glorious sunshine and events on the park were reaching a boiling point that had nothing to do with the weather. Step forward Mrs Catherine Miller to inadvertedly calm down the tempers (temporarily at least) and have every person inside the park laughing loudly. Mrs Miller's escapades were reported in the local papers of course but they made the news in the Sun and Daily Record as well. Meadow fans must have managed a giggle when they opened their papers on Monday morning to be greeted by a picture of the feisty pensioner and our very own Whisperer standing face to face in the Glenafton box.
